Traffic Incident Management

Traffic Incident Management (TIM) is defined by the Federal Highway Administration as a planned and coordinated process to detect, respond to, and remove traffic incidents, and restore traffic capacity as safely and quickly as possible.

District 5 has a dynamic Traffic Incident Management program that utilizes a state-of-the-art detection and communication system via our Regional Traffic Management Center and a coordinated response from state and local personnel.

Emergency response efforts are coordinated through quarterly TIM meetings along each of our major corridors.
